The cargo capacity of this Camaro makes my Celica feel like a wagon

Weird because it’s basically a truck while your Celica is basically a car.

Also needs to fit bodies, so you’d think GM would have thought of that.

Why don't people ever replace the hydraulics? They aren't THAT expensive. And those tails are fucking awful.

They’re very expensive for people who can’t afford a haircut that isn’t a mullet.

My wife had one of these horrid machines in the 90s. Once we moved her to a new college apartment and shattered the rear glass on a couple items that were just barely too big for that hatch. That car aged 20 years in just 5 years.

That’s what the unused space under the trunk is for. Can’t just have bodies sitting under that glass. The cops will see them.

Plus the smell.

I have to say, I’ve never really had any complaints about the cargo capacity of my car. I will admit it’s oddly shaped, and mostly meant to hold the t-tops.. but fold the rear seat down and you can fit a surprising amount of stuff in there. I’ve even fit a bicycle, once. More trouble than it’s worth.

Edit: also that camaro looks beat to shit. Just like most of them these days, sadly.

I broke the back glass out of a Civic wagon that way. The struts were shot, so I had the habit of resting the hatch on my back while loading, then ducking out and letting it slam closed. I didn’t realize the corner of the speaker I had loaded was beyond the plane of the opening until I was showered with little pieces of tempered glass.

I would love to start playing jokes on people where I replace their tail lights with ebay altezzas.

You can fit a surprising amount of crap in a gen 4. Put that back seat down and you get a lot of room.

Those may not have a large space, but you can definitely get something into it versus gen 6 camaros.

We had a convertible Camaro of that era for my sister for awhile. It was an engineering marvel, but not for anything good. GM somehow managed to build a massive car that had no room anywhere. The trunk? It had some volume, but it was the really deep space that had little length or width, so surprisingly little could actually be carried back there (and stacking bags of groceries never works well in the end). The back seats were only seats in the academic sense of the term. They were not a space where anyone over the age of about 8 years old is going to be able to spend any time, and their deeply contoured and bolstered shape meant they were not particularly useful for hold non-human cargo. The passenger foot well had a massive bulge sticking up in the middle of it providing clearance for the catalytic converter, which left surprisingly little room for the passenger to place their feet in any kind of a comfortable position. Under the hood there was some room up front, but there wasn’t really much on the 3.8 that you needed to get to on the front of the engine. There was no room on the sides and back of the engine. While not nearly as bad as the 5.7 cars, spark plug changes were still along the lines of who came up with this crap...

Believe it or not, I have gotten a lot more stuff in there than you would believe. Tube TVs, A 35 gallon fish tank (yes a fish tank), moving from dorm room to dorm room (granted it took probably a few extra trips). But it has a bit more space than you think because the rear seats fold flat and its still a hatch so you have a decent amount of space until it hits the glass. And where you put the T tops is some space, 2 medium boxes max though.
